Research: Adsorption

The adsorption research focuses on mapping the relationship between adsorbent/ion exchanger properties and their performance for optimization and adsorbent development to improve their performance.

The studied applications include the selective removal of metals from water and the removal of natural organic matter fractions from surface water. For the latter, the removal efficiency and selectivity of a wide variety of commercial resins (different backbones, different functional groups) for each NOM fraction, are investigated, aiming at identifying resins that selectively remove the biopolymer and the LMWN fraction and that recover the humic substance fraction.
