Welcome to Bram Jacobs, our newest researcher

01-03-2021

Bram graduated in February in Chemical Engineering Technology at Ghent University. During his thesis, he became familiar with the aromatic biopolymer lignin and the potential applications in thermoset materials as part of the VLAIO-ICON BIORESAL project. The goal of his project is to (1) valorize lignin to (partially) substitute toxic phenol in phenol-formaldehyde resins and (2) investigate the use of other aldehydes to (partially) replace formaldehyde.

After graduating, Bram had the opportunity to continue working on the BIORESAL project as a scientific assistant for 8 months. Enjoying working on his thesis at INCAT, he took this opportunity to learn more about conducting academic research and to interact with the involved companies.
